Licence

The terms Spectate is licensed under, in plain language. The price is on your invoice.

Who this is between

This licence is between Konrad Michels (“I”, “me”) and the company or Pro named on the invoice (“you”). It covers two things: a branded edition of Spectate built for a workshop company, and the standard app licensed to a Pro who runs their own workshops. Where the two differ, the section says so.

What you get

The right to use Spectate in workshops, classes and events that you run, and every update I release for it for as long as your licence is active. A branded edition is built under your name and look, with its own address and its own update channel.

Who may install it

Branded edition: any instructor, assistant or staff member working on one of your events may install your edition on any Mac they present from. There is no limit on the number of people or Macs. Participants watch in a browser and need nothing.

Standard app: the Pro named on the invoice may install it on the Macs they present from.

What you may not do

Term and renewal

The licence runs for one year from the start date on the invoice. It renews for a year at a time unless either of us gives 60 days’ written notice before the renewal date. If it lapses, installed copies keep working but no longer receive updates.

Price

The price is the one on your invoice, for the year the invoice covers, paid in advance. It does not change during a paid year. If the price for the following year is different, I tell you at least 60 days before renewal.

For a branded edition, you give me permission to use your name, logo and colours inside your edition and in its update feed, and nowhere else without asking. They stay yours, and my use of them ends when the licence ends. I may say that you are a customer.

Data

Spectate runs on your Mac and your local network. Photos participants upload are stored on the presenting Mac only. Nothing goes to me or to any server, other than the app checking my update feed for a new version. The privacy page has the detail.

Support

Email me at konrad@tonalphoto.com. I answer within two working days. Bugs I can reproduce, I fix in the next update.

No warranty

Spectate is provided as is. It depends on macOS features Apple may change. My liability to you is limited to what you paid me in the twelve months before the claim.

Ending it

Either of us may end this licence at renewal with 60 days’ notice. I may end it immediately if you break the “What you may not do” section.
